Our kindergarten is a not-for-profit community centre and is managed by a management committee elected from the parent body each year at the Annual General Meeting. This committee manages the kindergarten and has the power to act on all matters which affect the centre.
The committee must ensure the provision of standards which comply with both Lady Gowrie (Qld) and government guidelines, and which provide for the optimum growth and development of the children.
Members of the management committee need to make themselves available to attend the monthly meetings and be available for communication with external stakeholders from time to time throughout the year including council, education department and other officials.
All committee members will be provided with a kindergarten email for correspondence on kindy matters. Committee members will be able to access previous years’ emails and files for reference and ongoing projects. It is recommended committee members check their emails on a weekly basis, at minimum.
The committee meets monthly, and is responsible for the administration of the centre, appointment of staff and the financial budget. The co-directors will attend these meetings in a non-voting, advisory capacity.
The committee is also supported in administrative matters by the administration officer (staff position – part time role). The management committee comprises:
Vice President / Grants
Fundraising / Social Coordinators x 2
Works Director / Working Bee Co-ordinator
WH&S / Child Protection Officer
It is a requirement that the immediate past committee members continue in an advisory capacity as honorary committee members until the end of the calendar year. This aids a smooth transition between committees and maintains continuity of management. Many parents opt to serve for two years on the committee regardless, as they enjoy the challenge and involvement with the kindergarten.
