Enrolments update 2021

At the moment both our groups for 2021 are full.

If your child is on our waiting list for next year, they will stay on the list in case vacancies arise later this year. There can be changes sometimes as families move away from the area or have a change in circumstances. We cannot however predict or guarantee future vacancies.

If you have already found a kindergarten place elsewhere, please do let us know so we may update our waiting list: mtgravattkindy@bigpond.com

Open Day 2020 - cancelled

Our annual Open Day planned for mid-May has been cancelled.

Due to ongoing restrictions and limitations surrounding Covid-19 we have decided that we will re-visit an Open Day early in 2021 when we hope conditions will be more suitable to welcome visitors to our community kindergarten.

Families who are enrolled to attend kindy in 2021 will be able to participate in orientation and ‘getting to know you’ activities later this year – we will provide updates via email as the year progresses.

We hope all families in our community are keeping safe and well in these uncertain times. We thank you for your ongoing support and understanding of our community kindergarten.

2020 Playgroup - resumption for Term 3

Our fortnightly playgroup will start again in Term 3. If your child is enrolled for or on the waiting list for attendance at kindy in 2021 then you are eligible to attend playgroup. If you have not received any information about this yet from us, please contact us via email: mtgravattkindy@bigpond.com and we can send you more details.

SIBLING POLICY CHANGE 2018

Mt Gravatt Community Kindergarten Management Committee 2018 would like to advise of a policy change regarding sibling admissions from 2023.

Background:
The current sibling policy, whereby a sibling of a child who has attended or is attending Mt Gravatt Community Kindergarten is guaranteed a place for their eligible year, has been in place since 2011/12.

After discussion around our Code of Ethics and community consideration, the committee and staff believe this policy is not fair or equitable for all families in the community and does not provide the same opportunity for all to be placed on a waiting list.

New policy implementation:

With immediate effect, all children who wish to go on the 2023 waiting list (and all lists after this year), will be placed on the list as per the order in which they complete their waiting list application form and pay the associated waiting list application fee.

The 2023 waiting list is for children born between 1 July 2018 and 30 June 2019.

Siblings already on a waiting list:

All siblings already on a waiting list for 2020, 2021 or 2022 will NOT lose their advantage or place on the waiting list. Their status will remain the same, provided they have completed the waiting list application form and paid the application fee.

Siblings eligible, but not yet on a waiting list: 2022, 2021, 2022:

These siblings may still be considered under the ‘old’ sibling policy and be placed on a waiting list, provided they have completed the waiting list application form and paid the application fee.

Support from Mt Gravatt Community Kindergarten for implementation of policy:

Staff and committee members will be proactive in reminding current families who are due to have babies from now (July 2018) onwards to put their newborns on the relevant waiting list as soon as possible.

The staff and committee welcome all families from the Mt Gravatt community to go on its waiting lists and hope this revision in policy will encourage more families to do so and provide a more even playing field for all to have a chance of attending Mt Gravatt Community Kindergarten.
